Important information about your GP Practice – Bath Lodge Practice

As a registered patient with Bath Lodge Practice I am writing to provide you with important information in relation to your practice.


All GP practices in England and Wales hold a contract to deliver health care to local patients in the community.

You will be aware that we have struggled to recruit new employed GP’s over the last few years and have been working with locums on a daily basis, this brings with it lack of continuity of care for our patients and high financial costs.

The practice would like to offer more GP/Nurse Practitioner appointments to meet patient demand and improve continuity of care to all. Unfortunately this is not possible at the moment with a large shortfall of permanent clinical staff.

In order to ensure we sustain our services, we are proposing to merge with Chessel Practice and relocate to the Chessel Practice sites. These are situated at Chessel Avenue in Bitterne SO19 4AA (branch site) and Sullivan Road in Sholing SO19 0HS (main site).

We are considering this option as Chessel Practice offers more modern facilities with room to accommodate the additional Bath Lodge staff. Merging will give us the opportunity to use a larger team of clinicians to offer better continuity of care to patients. An increased workforce will also enable us to have a better skill mix amongst the nursing team and streamline the practices in place.

We value you as a patient and we would be very keen to continue to provide you with healthcare as we prepare to move services to the Chessel Practice premises. However if you wish to consider registering with another practice, our staff will be happy to provide you with information about other surgeries in the area.
