Flu Season Update

We would like to inform you that the 2020/21 flu season, will commence on the 26th September 2020. Flu is normally a self-limiting infection in healthy individuals. However, those that are vulnerable are at increased risk of developing complications. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you are vaccinated against, if you are eligible. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, we will be prioritising first those patients who have been identified as high risk (clinically extremally vulnerable*) from coronavirus. We will then be releasing appointments, to those who are identified as moderate risk (clinically vulnerable**) from coronavirus. Please contact the surgery, if you are either one of our high or moderate risk patients, as flu vaccination appointments are now available. Later in the year, the flu vaccine may be given to patients aged 50 to 64. More information will be released later this Autumn, once this has been released from Public Health England. This year’s flu season, will operate much differently in comparison to previous...

Patient Information Sheet

Patient Information Sheet

Bath Lodge Practice and Chessel Practice would like to merge their practices together with Bath Lodge services moving to the Chessel Practice Sites. Chessel Practice has two sites, one on Sullivan Road, Sholing, SO19 0HS and a branch site at Chessel Avenue, Bitterne, SO19 4AA. With the difficulties being faced across the country with GP recruitment this has prompted discussions between the two practices about how they can secure services to their patients and make them fit for the future. Chessel Practice offers more modern facilities with room to accommodate all Bath Lodge staff. By coming together and combining workforces, they are able to gain sufficient economies to deliver better care for a combined list size of approx. 21,000 patients. We would like you to continue to be registered patients as we propose to move to Chessel Practice or alternatively you may wish to register with another practice of your choice.   What does this mean for me as a patient? Whatever happens, there will be...

Letter To Our Patients, May 2019

Dear Patient, Important information about your GP Practice – Bath Lodge Practice As a registered patient with Bath Lodge Practice I am writing to provide you with important information in relation to your practice.   All GP practices in England and Wales hold a contract to deliver health care to local patients in the community. You will be aware that we have struggled to recruit new employed GP’s over the last few years and have been working with locums on a daily basis, this brings with it lack of continuity of care for our patients and high financial costs. The practice would like to offer more GP/Nurse Practitioner appointments to meet patient demand and improve continuity of care to all. Unfortunately this is not possible at the moment with a large shortfall of permanent clinical staff. In order to ensure we sustain our services, we are proposing to merge with Chessel Practice and relocate to the Chessel Practice sites. These are situated at Chessel Avenue in Bitterne...

Letter To Our Patients, June 2018

Dear Patient of Bath Lodge Practice, As we near the half way point through the year, this is a good time to take stock of where we are as a practice, to report back to you, and to share our vision for the coming months. Of course, the big headline is that we have been awarded the coveted ‘Good’ CQC rating after the CQC’s full and comprehensive inspection in February. It required a huge team effort, over many months, and included support and input from you, our patients, and particularly the PPG. The positive report can be read here: https://www.cqc.org.uk/sites/default/files/new_reports/AAAH0956.pdf Never ones to rest on our laurels, we forge ahead, conscious that, while the CQC have confirmed that we are a very competent practice, we still have many areas that we would like to improve in. Your feedback remains a vital part of this process and continues to influence the direction we take. As you know well, the NHS around us is also changing...

Letter To Our Patients, January 2018

Dear Patient of Bath Lodge Practice, As we begin this New Year, it is good to round up the events of 2017 and to thank you for your continued support, which has been invaluable over the last 12 months. Although the Practice is not yet functioning or performing to the level that we and you would like, we are able to look back and see significant improvement since the Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection in October 2016, which rated the Practice as ‘Inadequate’. That inspection occurred at the lowest ebb of the Practice, when most of the previous Doctors had left or were about to leave and the future of Bath Lodge was gravely uncertain. The critical CQC report was entirely justified, yet did little to encourage the remaining team. However, with your loyal support, and with considerable courage, effort and determination, the staff found new levels of perseverance to ‘weather the storm’ and our future is now looking more positive. We successfully...
